Windows Installer problem

On my other PC, I've currently got a Windows Installer problem that I don't know how to fix :(

I did google the problem and have tried both methods but I still can't install any software on my PC

I uninstalled AVG and was about to install Comodo anti-virus until I got that error.

As I haven't got any anti-virus on that PC, I'm afraid to go online with it in case I get a virus!

Any suggestions please?

p.s. it is OEM and so I don't have a Windows DVD with Vista Home Basic on it and no backup :o

Sorted now :)

As it was OEM I simply rang up the OEM company who sold it to me and they said to use the command sfc/ scannow and a few corrupted files were fixed and after a reboot everything is working okay again.

I always thought that you had to have a Windows disc to use the scannow command - apparently not :o
