the Titan Fenrir, which I own, is much cheaper and offers better cooling in that review - though it seems the noctua shines only in certain mount positions perhaps?

the fenrir is easily the best overall cooler imho - and if cost is a factor then it is a no brainer.

according to your links the titan is the best at stock and the noctua is the best overclocked.
the OP specified that he wanted advice and all things considered, including cost, the best overall is the Fenrir.
The Noctua, disregarding cost and install issues, is the best.
my opinion is that the Fenrir is the sensible choice unless you have lots of money.

I agree with the cost thing, the titan fenrir is a exceptional cooler.
If the OP is trying to compare against a £66 water cooler. The noctua own cost isn't a factor.
P.s I own neither, so am completly unbiased.

@OP - i suggest waiting for the respectable sites to review the new titan fenrir V2 which is available from overclockers from monday.
edit: it looks as though the v2 is the same but comes with skt 1156 brackets going by this: http://www.titan-cd.com/2009_WEB/eng/index.asp
which would mean i have the v2 i guess unless someone wants to correct me.

Reccomending the best cooler is well and good, but can that cooler fit the particular motherboard and ram configuration that a user has in mind. Both the noctua DH14 and megahelems are rather large coolers, they tend to block ram slots on certain motherboards

That just looks like the CS edition without the colour, same chrome fan anyway.
So probably not much difference.
