After comparisons with the bikes in this thread, this is kind of embarrassing. :o However, two efforts last night to hit the rev-limiter on the way home from work. edit: first video evidence in this thread (less motorbikes). :D

My 2007 Mercury Milan 4-door family car. :D

The entrance ramp to the freeway. Sorry I had to move the camera - mobile camera didn't like the contrast difference between the outside and the dash.

I forgot to move back after the end of the ramp - got distracted by merging into traffic. :o

First attempt to hit rev limiter:

Second attempt. Traffic just wouldn't allow it.

Confirmed as indictated with GPS. Next time I'll just keep it in the viewscreen and get them both at the same time.

Genuinely don't know. I was in a 1l D Reg Micra and I think the pin on the speedo stopped the needle going over 110.

Daft with hindsignt and I'm not proud. A mate phoned me to tell me that he'd booked cinema tickets 2 hours earlier than I was expecting in Sheffield. I was in London. Missed the trailers and maybe the first 5 minutes of the movie.

They shouldn't do at that speed. However, I'd try and avoid telling him that you were doing almost double the motorway speed limit when that happened.
Just curious, what is the max motorway speed over there? In Eastern US it's 70, further out west it goes up to 75 and at a few stretches 80. I'm told there are some roads in Montana that don't have a speed limit, though going over 50 on them would be suicide.

Daft with hindsignt and I'm not proud.
I don't see anything wrong with it as long as the car is built for it. 85 MPH in my '83 Escort would have been stupid, and the missus' '90 Cavalier could only hit 90 on a good downhill. But the Milan was stable and sure at that speed no problem.

160mph on the back of a mate ZX6R, scarily fast especially 2 up, and very idiotic and would never again.

115mph indicated on a Yamaha TZR125 borrowed from the mate I sold it to after not finding time to complete the project

174 on my '05 636 ninja......only to be overtaken by an old model (94?) astra saloon with flames coming from it's exhaust. I was quite embarrased, it's the fastest speed i've been at and I got overtaken by a biscuit tin. :(
