It means using increasingly fine grained sandpaper to create a more level surface on a cpu/cooler. This improves contact and lowers temps.

I used wet & dry sandpaper to get both cpu and heatsink flat for better contact it helps bring the temps down a little bit.

Just installed mine. Compared to the Scythe Zipang I replaced, I now get an average of 11C cooler temps across the cores under IBT!

That's even more than I'd hoped for. Really, really chuffed.

Previously I was worried about temps even though my oc was stable. Now I don't see temps being a worry for me even if I push on my vcore and clock speed.

Well chuffed with the Megahalems here.

i dont think i need to lap my cpu
