I have a i7 930 on a gigabyte x58a-UD5 motherboard with 6gb of crucial tracer 1600mhz. I have got it 24hours prime stable at 3.8ghz with the following
Cpu voltage=1.2
QPI=1.3
CPUpll=1.8
Ram voltage=1.64
Loadline calibration level 2 enabled

All this is cooled with a Noctua NH-U12P SE2 which on load temps go up to 71 degrees centigrade. But when I push for 4ghz I need 1.275 volts to keep it prime 95 stable but temps go upto 84 degrees which is too hot. Any ideas what I can do, do I need a new cooler, as you can see airflow is good. Thought this is supposed to be a good cooler with its premium price

Both fans on cooler blowing air out of the case

Thanks guys in advance

Im currently using a TRUE black, (lapped) on an i7 920 @4ghz, (venomous x is a new version of the TRUE) 1.2750 vcore, load temps hit 71-69-68-67, 2 arctic cooling F12 300-1350 rpm pwm fans on the cooler, speedstep/c1e disabled. Your case airflow and ambient room temp will also affect temps.

TRUE push/pull

The Noctua DH14 is a fantastic cooler, but due to its massive size it can severely block ram slots, of course this will depend on board space and ram used. Definitely a no no for me as im using ocz reaper ram, which has a very tall heatpipe assembly.

ive the prolimatech megahelems dual fans. i7 920 @4ghz max core temp is 71 degrees thats on a hot day under prime 95 .i really like this cooler it has the best bolt through fittings ive seen. i have 2 Akasa AK-183-L2B Amber Ultra Quiet 120mm Fan in push pull i reckon if i stuck 2 apaches on i could shave another 3 degrees

have you tried push/pull on those fans before deciding to buy another cooler? Thats what i've set my NH-D14 to do. (havent got temps, waiting on a component to finish my build).

Also, what others said about the D-14...its just gigantic, i spent an afternoon to connect all the wiring to the MB in my fractal case coz the cooler eats tons of space.
