My stock GTX260 will give me a fps of 18-25 (GAMER setting) in crysis warhead ! (1920 X 1080)

Just wondering what kind of settings you guys run crysis warhead and what frames per second you get from them?

Wondering if what I'm getting is acceptable or maybe something worth tweaking?

PS: Tried overclocking but no noticeable gain in fps! Might as well make the card last a longer time at stock clocks!

Weird I get a reasonable gain (statistically) from overclocking in crysis, tho its like +5fps but when your talking framerates of ~35fps thats quite a bit.

Do you have AA on? If so, turn it off - you should get a nice framerate boost.

As for your lack of extra performance when overclocking your CPU - this makes sense. Generally, Crysis (and warhead) are GPU limited games. This is certainly the case with your 3.2GHz Quad core and single GTX 260. If you feel brave, you can OC your GTX 260 - which should yield much greater performance increases than OCing you CPU will.

It is understandable why Rroff gets a performance boost when overclocking his CPU. He is running a Dual core (C2D) with a default clockspeed of 2.4GHz, this coupled with 2 GTX 260s in SLI must be CPU bound at stock speeds - so overclocking would give a nice performance increase.

Afraid my AA is well as truly turned off..:(

I find that CPU overclocking has no difference whatsoever, and GPU overclocking did not raise minimum fps by that much?

Maybe its just normal performance for this card?

Gaming PC is a Q9550 @ 3.825gig w/ GTX260 SLI - my 260s are gigabyte SoC tho that are running around 25% faster than the reference card out the box and clock a good 10% or so on top of that.

8800GT is still very capable, my laptop has a GTX260m which is essentially an 8800GT on steroids and even at 1680x it still runs everything with max settings very well aslong as I don't go over 4x AA (which is plenty).

Rroff, how doe's a gtx 275 compare to a gtx 260/280, i used to have a gtx 280, but unfortunately it died on me. Got a gtx 275 as a replacement, interim card was an asus 512mb 8800gt g92, coped ok'ish with bfbc2 at 1920x1200, im currently considering either a second 275 which i can use on my x58 board for sli, (850w psu) or maybe an ati 5870. ive never owned an ati card before. the 5870's look good from reviews etc, but ati driver suppor has always been bad in my imited ezperience of using them (laptop drivers).

Lol, misread the sig :) Made stupid assumption that people have 1 desktop when skim reading your spec - will try harder next time.

From what I remember, Crysis doesn't really benefit much from Quad cores, but it does like extra clockspeed.

275 and 280 are similiar performance, 260 is a bit slower tho a good overclock on it will close the gap with the stock 275 (obviously 275 will then clock a bit more). Personally I'm in no hurry to move on until some proper DX11 titles come down the line, 200 series SLI is still as capable as the 5870 in most DX9/10 titles if not more so the only exception being crysis.

Yeah CPU overclock doesn't do much for crysis but GPU overclock has some benefits - I find with crysis a GPU core overclock doesn't help much unless you also clock the VRAM up a bit too.

The gtx 275 isnt too bad, feels a wee bit slower than my 280 was, but it runs a lot cooler, ive never yet clocked the 275, my system is a 4ghz i7 920 with 6gb of ocz reaper 1600mz c7 ram, im mainly playing bfbc2 theese days, even switching down from dx 10 to dx 9 makes no discernable difference at 1920x1200.

From what I remember, a single GTX260 is not faster enough to handle Crysis at 1920x1080, even if with AA and AF turned off. You should consider lowering to 1680x1050 and try from there.
