I am looking at getting a good quality microscope, with the potential to go to 400x magnification or more.

Can anyone here guide me to a decent manufacturer or company? I know many of the high powered ones around are not very good. Quite happy to look at 2nd hand.

It should also have the ability for a digital slr to be attached.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Avoid the latest gen of the sony offerings as they are garbage. The older ones are vastly superior but won't support DSLR mounts.

Also look for microscopes which use a "white light" bulb instead of a dodgy green tinted one which makes a massive difference to what you can and cannot see when using the optics with your eyes or the camera's lol.

Set yourself a budget though as a decent starter microscope is around £99 and when you start adding in better optics, the DSLR mount and actual pre made high quality slides to look at, your looking at close to £300. I'll ask around tomorrow for specific brand recommendations and also places worth buying from.
