'Applying group policy drive maps policy' Problem

We changed some drive maps this afternoon in Windows SBS 2008 and when we logged back in we got the following message:

applying group policy drive maps policy

This has been going on for over 45 min before we went home (Circle timer thing still turning). We left it going to see if it will be done by tomorrow. If it's not done by tomorrow then there must be something wrong. We can't log in to stop the applying. So I was wondering if there is something I can do tomorrow if it's still applying to stop it. All the services for the users including emails is still working.

Check the paths it's probably timing out because of a typo / etc.

It was logged on this morning, thank god, but no idea how long it took. Need to create an admin logon which don't get group policies applied to it.

Were all the paths there? I'd still check your scripts / network info / etc. as it definitely sounds like something couldn't get to a location and causing the pause. I'd also check event logs.

I would agree with a logon that doesn't get the GP applied to it.

In the future... Pull the network cable and it will time out much quicker.

Also, is your admin in the same OU as your users?
