What have you put in the Interests / hobbies section of your CVs or read about of others?

Are there any too trivial or insignificant to bother mentioning?

I'm looking for ideas (not to put things I don't actually do, but as a gauge of what is acceptable/professional).

Im a blackbelt so i put my martial arts obsession on there, and im a keen gardener so i put my allotments.

i would refrain from putting on boning the missus and getting tanked up as a hobby

Don't put "computer games" or anything equally trivial. Put down real pursuits e.g. if you are part of a sports club (e.g. football, badminton) or do any volunteer work. You should put stuff that can be substantiated, not "enjoys summer walks along the beach"

had one CV handed in the other day, interests included "Being myself" and "looking after myself"

apparently, manager had one handed to him some years ago by a nigerian after a job, under 'specialist skills' he included "Money Laundering" :D

Depends on the job.

However, I would never mention anything that wasn't measurable (e.g. an award, trophy, martial arts, certificate) or as a team (sports, etc.). E.g. five-aside yes, reading no.

This is the Vault consensus too.

Stuff that, I'd be stupid not to mention the swing dancing and tall ship sailing, both of which have taken me around the world meeting new people.

I put stalking the members of overclockers on mine.

On a serious note, I actually don't have a hobbies/interests section on mine, also you should never put about any extreme sports that you could pick up an injury from.

Volkswagen festival stuff, Music (playing and listening), Technology, Cooking.

Shows I'm social and don't mind getting my hands dirty, I have a creative bit, I like new things and cooking. Or thats what I reckon it sends out.

I did once have whisky taster in my hobbies but they'll know shortly after I start working how much I drink when I come in straight from a party or something.

I always leave that off as what ever you put always looks lame and irrelevant and will probably just provoke a snigger or sneer from who ever is reading it.

Nothing wrong with wanting your £50s whiter than white.
