Constant noise on headset

Hiya,

I got a new headset today, i have plugged the two jacks in and the USB that came with it. Now when it's all plugged in all i have is contact background noise.. I can still here things, use mic etc but its just always there. I have looked all in the settings, as soon as i plug the old one back in buzzing. The buzzing seems to be affected by the volume, so if i pump the volume up, up goes the buzzing sound... any ideas?

also when i plug the USB bit back in the sound is very low, but as soon as i turn it up the buzzing comes back. Same thing happens with my sound blaster x-fi and with the onboard.

When i plug the old headset it no background noise, although that one doesnt have a USB connection.

it's a turtle gaming x11, I've read a few posts about this stuff and turtle, some say could be bad grounding on the case?? Might take it apart and check everything tomorrow.

sounds like EMI where are you plugging it ? the front panel ?

Nah directly into the xfi sound card, also the USB connection directly into the back. Just plugged it into my laptop and it does exactly the same

Sounds like its not earthed properly, although I don't know if this is even possible with headsets? Or something electronic interfering with the signal? Or maybe the headphones themselves hare borked?
