Gigabyte HD4870 vista 64 bit problem?

A friend has a hd4870 1gb Which is failing to work on vista 64bit. But works on xp 32 bit. is there a known problem between ati and vista 64bit with driver compatbility ??

I'm yet to try it in my system which is vista 32bit, but till then any sugestions?

Could it be a mobo problem? Got no other cards to hand, onboard VGA works, and bios settings are good regards uo pci detection

in vista is the onboard vga set to off in the bios ?

I'm not at he's house any more but I belive it was, it was the first thing I checked, well he's going to get hold of a card so I can test this one, so there's no driver problems with x64?

Did you install the 64 bit catalyst 10.4 drivers?

Also, was the PCIe power connection made to the card from the PSU?

Power connection was in both, didn't check to see it has 64bit
driver. I totaly forgot, I'll get him to check . Feel bit dumb now!!!

ok may have figured out its some thing called screen tearing. i come across this searching google for whats going on.

it boots up and works but goes funny when stressed, should have mentioned this i suppose !!
