My council property is being knocked down (thank god) and we obviously have to move out fairly soon. We have been given access to the housing register with a priority stamp and will receive £4600 by way of 'compensation' to decorate a new home, put towards deposit on a mortgage, or whatever we want to do with it.
Now, the local housing officer has outlined what we are entitled to and what we can expect, but I am aware that she is acting on behalf of the council and will obviously be giving us the 'what they want us to hear' speech, if there is such a thing. I want to know what our real, legal entitlements are but I am struggling to find any relevant information on the net.
Does anyone know anything about this, or know the best place to find out, short of employing a solicitor?
