I have a friend visiting me this weekend and he's made only one request and that's that I supply Tequila...

Odd I know but just wondering if you can go wrong at all with the stuff, it all tastes much the same to me. So before I go buy the standard guff they stock at Tescos any one suggest something worth buying, worth drinking even?

Tequila makes me hurl too...

Asda have sierra for £11 ish. I don't know if it's any good or not but I wouldn't want to spend too much if it's just for a mate! It also has a little hat on the bottle. Must be authentic. Don't forget lemons and salt.

I would say this but make sure it's the white one, I find they tend to be a lot nicer at the cheaper end than the brown ones.

(no racist pun intended or anything) :p

Its all pretty rank - just get the cheapest you can find.

People who claim they like a particular brand are just suckers for marketing just like ponces who have to order 'grey goose' vodka in clubs - as if they're going to notice the difference when they've mixed it with whatever nasty mixers the slutty looking waitress brings along to their table.

Yeah because you can't enjoy a good spirit straight.
Just because you have no tastebuds doesn't mean the rest of us don't.

People who mix spirits with more than a tiny dash are just ponces though I will agree, man up and taste your alcohol!

Would say the same for whiskey?

If you so much as like tequila, let alone are so much of a sucker that you actually try to differentiate between brands of that garbage then I'd say you don't have any tastebuds.

no - I wouldn't get to into it but whiskey is a bit different.

Vodka, Tequila etc.. are subject to a lot of markting hype. Grey Goose is a good example, it was created as a 'premium vodka' - its just vodka - it tastes **** like any other vodka does tbh....

What a load of rubbish. There is as much of a specialist industry in Tequila and Vodka as there is for Whiskey. Same goes for Rum, all depends on what drink you prefer. I'm a rum drinker, and I can taste the difference between rums rather easily. Also been able to do the same for tequila, but struggle to do it for Whiskey, but that's because I don't particularly like the drink.

You love talking **** dont you? There are loads of variations in Vodka, my girlfriend is Polish so I have been fortunate enough to try a whole load of them.

Avoid Cuervo/Sierra etc.. pretty much everything they sell at Tesco is like paint stripper.

Depending on what you call "reasonably priced", Sauza Hornitos is not bad, although their cheaper ones aren't so good.

Personally, I drink Patron (if you ever get a chance to try the Gran platinum.. do so!). Casa Noble is also great.

My low cost favourite is Cabo Wabo respado. I'm not a big fan of the blanco tequilas.
Sauza Blanco is $8 in Tucson and horrible.... £22.00 here.

Another couple of decent budget sipping Tequilas are Don Julio or Corralejo.

A friend and I emptied the Cabo Wabo at Christmas :)
