How to check if hard drive is physically damaged?

Hi, all. By accident I have dropped my 1TB Segate External Hard drive. I connected it to a PC and everything seems fine but I want to know whether there is a program that can tell me if my hard drive is physically broken inside? I have lots of valuable data on this hard drive - how can I check?

SeaTools, there is a bootable dos version or a windows version.

If the data is so valuable why you keeping it on an external drive with i guess no backup?
