Hi lads, i know many of you have been clocking this chip and i have looked on site but cant find what i am after.

Has anyone got a simple explaination to how the new teck works in the bios?

My problem is i popped into o/c yesterday and got:

I7 920 oem
Gigabyts GA-X58A-UD3R
6x2 ocZ 1600 Mhz mem (OCZB1600LV6GK)
and a water block for the cpu.

As the new CPU clocking is different from my old E6300 i dont know what to alter to make my ram run at the correct speed (i dont think it is). Currently i have everything on Auto or default in the bios but my ram speed is 1066 and i thought it was 1600?

CPUZ is showing:

Dram 539MHz
2:8
NB 2159MHz
7,7,7,19
cpu x20
Bus speed 134.9MHz
FDS 2428.9MHz

I really happy with the upgrade as my water cooling is keeping the I7 cooler than my E6300 ATM, but i do want to clock it up to 3Ghz min. Until i know and understand what all the bios bits do i wont touch a thing.

Any links and tips welcome.
Cheers

I have exactly the same setup mate. If you need 1600mhz RAM, switch the memory multiplier from auto to 12.0 I believe. You will see what speed it hits before you reboot (Gigabyte show the before and after speeds just under the option on that board).
