ive put together 2 specs within his/our budget of £200.

spec 1 is pretty basic but better cooling.

Athlon II X4 630 - £78
ASUS M4A77 - £55
PNY 2GB DDR3 - £43
Zalman CNPS10X - £27

Total - £203

All with free delivery. Change the cooler if you want (like, to a Coolermaster TX3), there's tons of options. CPU could be a PII 555 if they're gaming with it, but then i guess you would have wanted a graphics card?

he done fine on his athlon 3400 x2 sckt 939 on asus a8n-sli!
i think even the basic of newer setups with whip his old set up !!
again leaning towards less of processor but more ram so when he upgrades to win7.

You really don't need 4GB for everyday tasks and casual gaming. Hell, you don't need 1GB really but for Windows 7 2GB is easily enough, money would be far better spent on a better CPU.

What graphics card will you be using?

already signed up long time ago!!
not sure how much we would get for his old stuff, either the board or the memory has gone but testing it seems like mix of both!
