Just a quick question. I am setting up a cisco 3550 switch for one of our remote sites. The first port on the switch will be connected to a router on the site. The Switchport mode is showing up as follows on interface fa0/1

"Switchport mode dynamic desirable"

will this cause any issues?

It means whatever you plug into it will 'just work'

Whether that be a PC or another switch for trunking.

Providing the other end is configured correctly. Personally I despise these settings as they cause more trouble than their worth, if a port is a trunk port I want it to predictably stay a trunk port not randomly change depending on what it *thinks* is plugged in.

Yeah. In particular key connections (switch to switch, switch to router, switch to server) i like to set as much as i can to a manual setting (speed, duplex, trunking, portfast, etc)
