Hi everyone
I've got an old laptop (HP nw8000 Mobile Workstation) with an Intel ICH4M (I think) as the storage controller.
Basically, my options for installing a new Hard Drive are IDE or SATA (with an adapter) and either one maxes out at approx 90MB read/write.
I need a new hard drive for it, currently it has a Hitachi 7200RPM 60GB which does 27MB/s average speeds.
I was thinking of either a Samsung M7 640GB which will do around 70MB/s average speeds, or should I get an SSD?
Is it worth spending £75 on getting the OCZ Onyx? or spending the little extra and getting the Intel 40GB?
Or should I just get the Samsung M7? Or just stick with what I have for a little longer till SSD prices decrease?
I'm just not sure how much faster this OCZ Onyx is than the Samsung M7 for a windows installation etc.
Thanks!
