Hi, attempting to make a new build here and just after some general advice.

I have a 650w PSU and a case ready just need to know if this would all fit together properly and if there's possibly any other better changes I could make.

Thanks <3

Looks good, but you will need a cpu cooler.

Not sure how good the motherboard but the Gigabyte X58A UD3R gets recommended a lot.

Does one not come with the CPU? I bought the E6600 once and it came with it.

which psu do you have?

Corsair 650w

Yeah I was looking at that bundle but it offers a i7 920 compared to this build which has a i7 930, any big difference?

Thanks guys

No big difference between 920 and 930, chances are you'd run either at 4GHz so they'd be exactly the same. If you're lucky you could get a slightly higher overclock with the 930 (with very good cooling).

OEM CPUs don't come with heatsinks.

edit - your PSU is absolutely fine (but I'm sure you knew that already).

The Gigabyte X58A UD3R is faster and cheaper than all the Asus X58 boards according to bit-tech's review. So there's no reason anyone should pay more to get the Asus board, unless they want to donate extra money to Asus, or if they got some sort of personal grudge against Gigabytes :p

Hows about getting a 5870 or 5850 instead of a GTX480? The GTX480 is much hotter, less clockable, requires a power plant to run and is single figure percentage faster than a 5870. If you get a 5870, overclock it to 1ghz core and you'll have GTX480 performance or better

Change the HDD for a Samsung F3 1TB or WD Caviar black 640GB or 1TB.

Would personally avoid Seagate Barracuda like the plague (especially when these two are available)

Unless you need a NV graphics cards, I would go with 5850 or 5870 and also I would get the UDR3, its better and cheaper so see no really reason not to get it. Also Ive heard poeple having problems with the OCZ gold ram, personal I never have had problem with it buy it might be safer to change it.

I would get this memory, it does cost £10 more but you should save around that much from getting the Udr3 mobo.

Thanks everyone, right now I'm planning to go with the i7 920 overclocked bundle @ 4GHz (Since idk how to overclock myself!).
