Looking for a mobo for around £80-£90 (cheaper if i could get away with it!) and have narrowed it down to the two below. I have always had Gigabyte boards and had no issues but it seems the Asus is a better board, what is the general consensus?

Asus M4A79XTD Evo (Socket AM3) DDR3 Motherboard £89.99

Gigabyte GA-770TA-UD3 (Socket AM3) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard £80.99

I know it is a subjective question but is it worth going for the extra bells and whistles?

I would be more interested in future proofing rather than extra stuff i won't use.

lol, just the way i like to think! The two mobo's you linked to, which would you choose?

You won't go wrong with either.

Personally I like my ASUS boards, I prefer the colour scheme, and I prefer the BIOS layout on them.

But there is nothing wrong with the Giga, lots of people prefer them over the ASUS.

So just go with whichever you like the look of most!

The Giga seems to come with more stuff (2 x USB 3.0, and 2 more SATA ports), so I might be tempted to go with that one, plus it's a quid cheaper ;)

Bare in mind that asus board doesnt have usb3.0, for that you'd need the imaginatively named "gtd pro/usb3" @ £120

I've got the pro/usb3, its a great board with loads of kit for the price :)
