Decent Headphone Amp

Hey guys,

Looking for a nice Headphone amp for my 80 ohm Beyerdynamic DT770's for sub £50. They sound really nice through my Hi-Fi but they could do with some more juice.

Are you really gonna notice anything amping 80ohm? maybe find a tube amp to change the sound.

why do you specifically mention ohms as the determining factor for needing an amp?

Little Dot I+ Great budget amp, I've been using one for a few months with DT880 250ohm and AKG K701s.

How do these (headphone amps) integrate with an X-Fi sound card, for example? Can most pass through an optical signal from a sound card or would they normally have to be connected to the sound card's stereo jack?

I got a BT-928 from ebay for about £30 a couple of years ago, and tbh I'm really pleased with it. Plenty of upgrade potential too

If the card has RCA outputs you can connect straight up, there are probably amps with optical out there but usually you'd then use a DAC as well, I have up on my xfi and just use a USB DAC + Headphone amp.
