Hello,

My 2 1/2 year old Peugeot 307 is due its 40,000 mile service next week. It is provisionally booked in with a dealer and the quoted price is going to be £310 plus £50 for brake fluid replacement  Total = £360.

Has the new rules regards getting private garages to carry out the service on cars in warranty yet? I feel like Peugeot want to have my pants down on this.

Also, I have a feeling they are going to want me to get the brakes done, again, probably a signifcantly higher cost to be incurred there?

Any help before I go throw more money away please!

Does seem a bit steep for a Peugeot, what's entailed for a 40k service? My ST 2.5 Litre turbo costs less to service, to put it in perspective without shopping around between dealers

When you say specialist are we talking a private garage? Still would like to know if taking it to a local garage would wipe the warranty. I remember seeing it on the news not that long ago that this idea that a car must go to a dealer to retain warranty was being scrapped.

You can have it serviced anywhere and not break the warranty. If you are in London, this is a very good Peugeot specialist http://www.roycrandall.com/

Bad web site, great garage for anything French.

You can service the car yourself as long as you can prove it was done in accordance with the original servicing schedule they still have to honor the warranty, You do not need to go to a garage. Although it is usually best as you get invoices etc...

Ask the dealership to break down the cost for you. Unless you're on some 'premier' service scheme, the base rate for a major service (which they refer to as Level 2) is £169.99, so the price you've been quoted will include procedures that are done at additional cost (such as aircon servicing, pollen filter, diagnostic review/software updates, etc).

Diagnostics are a joke with Pugeot and silly money, Best £125 i spent was on peugeot planet and now i just do it myself.
Superb bit of kit and can do everything on pugs and citroens from coding keys and stereo's to particle filter forced regens.I have even been fitting cruise control to peoples cars recently for the cost of a stalk and a tenner for programming it!
Mine has paid for itself twice over just by doing other peoples fault clearing and diagnostics in the 3 months i have had it.
Worth thinking about at some point;)
I was told a diagnostic read was performed at most services but cannot be 100% on that.

Thanks for the replies on this. After talking around a few friends I have it in at a garage near me which will do the full service, with Peugeot parts and the brake fluid change for £230. That's some serious saving!
