I cross 7s and zs. I'm not sure why I cross 7s but I can't tell the difference between 2 and z when writing quickly without crossing the z. I assume I do both because most of my degree was maths, so telling the difference easily is important.

I don't cross my 7s, but I don't think it would make a different to it legibility, it would still be scruffy

Strangly enough me and the missus had this conversation last weekend. And yes, I do it to 7's, think I just copied my Dad when I was young and it just stuck.

Yup I do. That's how I was taught to do them when I learnt how to write (which was in France).

I cross my Zs as well.

I don't cross my 7's, i don't put the 'sticky out' bits on my 1's, i don't cross my 0's like some do, I also write everything in pseudo upper case... seems to run in the family that one.. my grandmother did, my father does, and i do.. and i think my younger brother has started doing it too..
