Extension tubes + 28mm

Hi guys, I had some extension tubes delivered today mainly for use with my 70-210mm and 50mm, but I thought i'd see what effect I would get if I used it on my Sigma 28mm mini-wide with which it cannot focus. Why would this be?

The extension tubes reduce the focus distance, with wide angle lenses the distance can be reduced so that it is within the body of the lens. You may be able to achieve focus with the smallest extension tube.

Just tried it and you're right, with the smallest one it will work, I have to be bloody close to anything to see
