It's the same memory bandwidth as the 1GB, same ROPs and everything else too. They're either using 2Gb GDDR5 (of which there's been no major announcement about shipping) or their using twice as many chips, each with half the number of memory lines, meaning high-precision memory transfer could be crippled for the computing crowd.

Nevertheless, there are a few games that could use 2GB. Only they will truly benefit over the 1GB card models. Apart from that, maybe less OC headroom due to more memory chips being used.

I don't understand people loving this card.

It costs the same as the cheapest 470 available (if you shop around), and that card with 1280MB of RAM will perform consistently better than this card.

Slapping an extra GB of RAM onto an already existing product is the oldest trick in the book, and it makes me sad when people spend their money on them.
