5 mile commute with loads of traffic lights. Stop-start kills the economy in this thing. If I'm really careful I can get 30mpg. It also has a dodgy thermostat, which might be stealing a few of my mpgz.

Consider yourself lucky.

I do a similar sort of commute and bag an epic 13MPG .

No trip comp but been doing some calculations at the pump and so far I'm managing 19-21mpg just doing inner city trips. Managed 31mpg once on a trip that involves 450km motorway. It's a 3.0 V6 so sounds about right I think.

Not driven enthusiastically on local trips, no, 20-24mpg, but thats still not a huge difference, so yes, whats the point. Especially when the E90 330i has 272bhp!

Indeed - low 20's around town for a 330i

290PS and 500ft/lb make for a good drive, but I won't get into a petrol/diesel debate.

Motorway driving at 155mph!?

I get 30 MPG on the motorway in 6th gear at a constant speed, but mix in any other driving and the figure soon drops down. :(
