Hi guys and gals,

Not sure if this is possible or not and I have done as much research as possible but my head keeps spinning seems the more I read the more confused I get :D

Anywho I just bought a MSI GX740 laptop and am wanting to connect it to my Samsung 2233RZ monitor every now and then, my understanding was that I would require a dual link dvi > hdmi cable to gain the 120hz this monitor can support. However I don't seem to be able to get any more than 60hz, so i'm wondering if this is something i'm doing wrong or if there is no possible way to gain more than 60hz? Would going DVI > Vga make any difference (I always thought HDMI would support a higher hz rate than vga) ?

Thanks in advance guys
Dan

ok guys bit of a update

I have been playing with Phoenix EDID Designer and I can now get 75hz at 800x600 and 1680x1050, however when I try to achieve 120hz I can see the option for it at 800x600 but 1680x1050 resolution has completely disappeared from the list. It also doesn't display 120hz at 800x600 when I set it either my monitor just says "not optimum mode, recommended mode 1680x1050 ?".

I know this monitor will do 120hz and both 1680x1050 and 800x600 as it would run these fine on my old pc.
