quick heads up for anyone buying the a7da-s 3.0:

core unlocking only works on the p03 and p07 official bioses. The p03 is quite buggy in general, and the p07 can have problems running the HT link at full speed when unlocked.

After much communication with foxconn tech support i wheezled out a beta bios (ie, newer than the p07), that fixes the HT issue:

they told me that this will end up in a public release, but nothing has materialized as of yet (the last time i spoke to them was about 4 months ago...). The s07 is the one im running, and it generally seems alright.

personally i think all the little abbreviations and such on the end of some of the high end graphics cards gets a tad out of hand every now and then.

For example the (insert manufacturer) GTX580 OC GLH LTD XXX BE *** WTF OMG superclocked. With a 10mhz factory overclock.

edit: f tw is blanked and not wtf?

yeah maybe they think that by making the name longer than anyone elses means people thinks its the better one. Personally i like the way BFG did it OC, OC2 and OCE for extreme.

Nice simple and easy :)

Im interested in the Foxconn P45AL because I notice it has a 8-pin 12v CPU supply rather than the usual 4-pin. I have a GA-EP31-DS3L which I can get to 3ghz but not any higher stably because (I think) of the vdroop. Does the 8-pin supply mean it has better voltage stability and better overclockability?

I'd like to get my Q6600 G0 up to 3.6 if possible.

Yes and a post above gives you a "S" bios which allows core unlocking.
I'm speaking with the far east now to get the bios's put into a "P" variant which basically means there production aka for everyone available via the foxconn site.
