Been out of the loop regarding GPUs for a while. Currently got a BFG GTX 285 and want to upgrade to something that'll handle DirectX11 titles.

Anyone got an opinion on what I should go for?

Gaming res = 1920*1080
Budget = £400ish (to include whatever the 285 sells for)

That kinda budget I'd go for a GTX 580. Or if you feel like saving abit of money then go for the ATI 6950 and flash it to a 6970.

Both cards are capable of DX11 and will cope with most games at max settings.

seen the sticky at the top? how computer literate(sp?) are you and are you afraid of flashishing bios etc?

if messing about isn't for you or you prefernvidia over amd/ati then the gtx580 is £400 and currently the fastest single gpu card you can get and will play anything up 30inch monitor res(well except maybe crysis and arma 2).

I assume flashing a 6950 to a 6970 would invalidate the warranty? If so, that's not for me.

What about the length of the 580? Is it much longer than a 285 (10.5 inches)?
