hello!

im just wondering is there any network monitoring software than monitors the traffic of the wireless router im using?

also is QoS used to allocate bandwidth for devices connected to a wireless router?? if so can i use other software to use QoS or does it have to be built into the firmware of the router?

using an o2 wireless box 2, which is a rebranded Thomson SpeedTouch TG585v7 and o2 dumb down the features of the original FW used and disabled the QoS options =\

any help would be good, thanks

I believe QoS would have to be done on the router or a server that all machines on the network connect via.

For monitoring network traffic you could try some 'Packet Sniffer' software.

Yes you'd need firmware support for QoS on the router. Network monitoring can be done several ways depending on what you want to see. To see actual traffic from other devices you'll need to packet sniff, which will require software such as wireshark or alike.
If you just want to see overviews like traffic volumes and prtocol types you can probably get that info from your router using SNMP traps and something like PRTG traffic grapher.

QoS is on the router, it'd need to be supported. With firmware such as tomato you can monitor bandwidth with graphs also.
