It strikes me as bizarre that people will spend loads on the 5dII and then stick a ridiculous super wide to tele zoom lens on it. L or not, Canon's zoom lenses leave a lot to be desired.

24mm is not super wide....

What do you suggest? That it comes with a 50/1.2 and put the kit up to £3,000?

Really? Although I am not a fan of the 24-105 it is a well liked lens by both users and reviewers. I went the 24-70L route and it was a lovely lens. I tried the cheaper Tamron 28-75 option first which I didn't find particularly great, I didn't try the Sigma options though.
