Looking to spend approx. £400-450 upgrading my PC, im looking for something fairly high end but I'm only after the processor, motherboard and RAM at this stage, any recommendations would be much appreciated.

Ideally I would like an i7 processor, atleast 6 gigs of ram and a decent motherboard.

The most demanding thing that I do on my PC is probably games, but I'm going to upgrade the Graphics card later.

Thanks and Merry Christmas :)

If your just gaming have a look at the i5 range or could you hold on to Sandy Bridge which launches next month.

There is very little difference between i5 & i7 in gaming.

And idea of what the performance/price (mostly price^^) of the Sandy Bridge processers will be?

I was thinking of getting - Intel Core i7 950 3.06GHz (Bloomfield) (Socket LGA1366). Do you think its worth getting over a cheaper i5?

I decided to wait a bit but Im thinking about updating again.

Is it worth going for a Sandybridge processer? How do they preform in relation to older processers?
