Western Digital Caviar Black Drives.

Hi

How quiet are these drives?,what i mean is i can handle access noise/loading clicks etc.

I just dont want a drive that is constantly humming if you get what i mean.

For example, every Samsung drive ive owned made a humming on/off sound and it was annoying so i dont want the WD black to do this.

Opinions will be varied of course but I find this drive to be anything but quiet. Don't get me wrong it's not so loud as to be annoying but I can hear it above several fans in the system. I have disabled AAM on the drive which is a factor but if it's not a system drive you might want to leave this feature enabled (was on by default IIRC) and take the small hit to access times. It's a great drive though. Quietest drive I've ever used is a Samsung F3 1TB (or the new VelociRaptors but guessing that's not a cost effective option).
