Just got back from a trip to New York, quite enjoyed myself and the main thing I enjoyed doing was taking some snaps.

I've not actually shot in daylight before (only ever shot very low light gigs!) - so this was a bit of a learning curve at the same time. I knew roughly what to attempt to do though, whacked it in manual and off I went.

When I was out there I picked up an iPad Camera Connector kit, as I had Filterstorm the app which is nice for some editing on the fly. All of these were downloaded onto the pad, edited on there, and put onto flickr while I was out there - really useful.

Processing perhaps not to everyones taste but I personally like them so hey; subjective and all.

I was pretty taken by the buildings, as you'll see from the below!

Thanks for looking.

And of course, McDonalds in Heaven!

I think the 50mm is not the right lens for the job - they're photos of buildings, but with somehwat odd proportions, which makes them look look like snapshots, rather than well-thought out photos.

For a walkaround in a cityscape, where you want to include buildings and get close a zoom or two will be more suitable almost every time.

İ really love the mcdonalds shot. İ've always been a fan of different takes on photos and this hits the spot. Buildings are always difficult to photograph in the early morning or afternoon when the sun starts to go down.

What troubles me is that apart from the Time Square and central park shots, the rest of them could have been anywhere else in the world. They don't say NYC, if at all.

Having a 50mm on crop doesn't necessarily mean narrow perspective, which is the feeling I am getting here. I feel like I am looking through a scope.

Cheers for the feedback chaps.

I'll just pick up on a few bits;

robert; I think it could quite possibly of been me on the iPad getting a bit excited with FilterStorm when processing on the go. I'll be taking a relook at some on the computer when I get chance.

On the building front I think I was just personally enjoying taking photos of them, and I take on board the points it wasn't the best lens to use but it is the only one I own, and have ever used more than the once, so I just go with what I've got at the moment.

I've not ever looked into using filters and things like that, is there an easy website that does a sort of 'With Filter' and 'Without Filter' comparison? Would be really handy for me to visualise it.

And I agree about it not really saying New York after looking at it again. I'll throw up some more in a bit.

MajorPart; Times Sq shot was on the top of the big red steps :)

I would have loved to of timelapsed it and done long exposures but unfortunately I was traveling pretty light so had no tripod and there's not anywhere to make a makeshift one on them steps!
