A friend in the office is buying a new TV, he ofc doesn't want to spend a lot.

He's going to be using it for blueray and PS3 goodness:

£400 should get you a decent 40" Samsung, LG or possibly a Sony (if there are still any retailers with end-of-line stock), which would be a far better choice than a Hannspree.

The contrast is low, the brightness is terrible and the response time isn't great either.

Without looking that hard, This would be better, and not just for the free five year guarantee and aftersales that care.

Simply Put No,
Response rate are rubbish for games and contrast / viewing angles are hurrendous
I'd have a look at the panasonic for best quality.
What size screen does he want, and what budget has he got to work with
