Is this a common problem?

For a while now my rev's have been playing up, the car is trying to stall but kicks back in just as it stalls.

Also when driving, if i stop or slow down the rev's do exactly the same as in the video.

Recorded a short video just to show you.

My car is a 2001 Vauxhall corsa 1.2

If you do replace it make sure you use genuine parts. The cheaper ones seem to last half the time a new one would.

Vauxhall don't really seem to be a fan of them on petrol models. My vectra never did for example.

My astra did exactly the same, was a build up of gunk in the throttle body.

Here's a guide to cleaning it. (albeit for the astra, but shouldn't be too different) Only takes 15mins and a £5 tin of carb cleaner http://www.astraownersclub.com/documents/technical/TB.pdf

I had the same problem on my 2000 (W) 1.8 petrol Astra. In the end I never bothered fixing it and just got used to driving with it lol.

don't think the Astra VXR engine has one either.

Must be just the VXR engines that don't have one.
