I'm going to build a cheap gaming PC for the kids. got a 200 pound budget for the motherboard, ram, and CPU. Can some one suggest the best hardware for that amount of cash. got an ati hd4870 to go in the rig after I have upgraded my rig. if that helps.

AMD 955BE is the other option.
Can be overclocked (most 955BE C3s are hitting 4.0GHz on stock volts), which will push it's performance out past the i3.
It also has better upgrade routes - especially if combined with the right mobo, as you should be able to drop Bulldozer in there.
However, it will cost about the same, so the cooler needed to overclock it will push you £10 over budget.

Could drop any 15/17 into the above spec, and any other socket 1155 CPU released in the future.

480w Tagen will be more than enough, cracking brand of PSU.

Cant remember the last time AMD offered better performance than Intel( and i dont mean bang per £)
