Apple iSight firewire webcam..why are they so damn expensive?

So I've seen and held a couple of these but I can't really see why they are so expensive?


From what I can tell:

The tech is very old so the picture quality isn't that amazing
The build quality IS good but even the newest ones are like 5 years old now if not more?

Brand new they were around the £90 mark and looking on fleabay more around £60-£70 now?

Are they honestly that expensive purely due to the manufacturer? or is there something about them I'm missing? I'm curious!

I reckon it's purely down to collectors value - they look cool and are made by Apple = £££... Although if I remember correctly they did have an almost cinematic image quality to them as opposed to most other webcams of the time...

A completely unrelated example is my brother recently paid £40 for Twisted Metal: World Tour on PS1... 40 QUID!!!
