I've got this router, plugged it in April the 1st ish, and it's been on since. Only downtime is when I updated the firmware

25??? That's far far too high, are you sure you mean SNR?

Sorry, you misunderstood what I was on about.

I changed the SNR parameters from -1 to 50 in the config page.

This has slightly lowered my SNR from 6.5 to 3.3 (Below 3 and the line becomes unstable.) But has increased my speed from 4.9Mbps to 6.23Mps.

Hope that helps you.

Wow! I can't wait to get my hands on one of these routers ;)

My snr is currently 8db on a 1mb sync, my attenuation is 54db - what sort of target snr should I be looking at and *realistically" what kind of new sync do you think I may achieve?

That's a very low sync for 54db

Sam

I think there is something bad happening on your line

Which exchange and how far?
What master socket do you have?
Any internal extensions?
Picture of junction box and above would be useful

I've just ordered a 7800N after my DG834GT has started to reboot itself often, I wanted something modern with a Broadcom ADSL chipset (which I hear this has) and this seemed to tick all the boxes. I live miles away from the exchange and usually sync around 2900 down, 800 up - should be with me tomorrow so I'll let you all know how I get on :)

Edit: Also, does anyone know the difference between the 7800N, 7800NV6 and 7800GZ? They all appear to be the same model but I want to make sure I'm getting the one with a Broadcom ADSL chipset, anything else is totally useless on my line!

I think the 7800N is the UK model, the others are for other parts of the world (I think)

and benftl, Samknows says I live under 100 meters from the exchange :D

Currently, the exchange only supports up to 8mb though, pita

Line is playing hell with me in the past couple of days, I'm super confused :(

ADSL Status
Parameters
DSP Firmware Version A2pB025f.d22k
DMT Status No Defect
Operational Mode G.DMT
Upstream 448
Downstream 8128
SNR Margin(Upstream) 25.0
SNR Margin(Downstream) 14.1
Line Attenuation(Upstream) 13.0
Line Attenuation(Downstream) 19.0

Anyone spot anything alarming? Thanks.

ISP ? - ADSL 24 Home 30 Package
Which router ? - Billion 7800N
Error stats from the router if possible - Can't seem to locate these, any idea where they are?
What type of master socket and filter ? Master socket is bog standard. Not sure who fitted it, but the line comes into the house via my parents room then is connected to a single socket fixed BT socket/box. No test port is inside this. A Microfilter (from the old router) is fitted to the port, then our telephone line joins to this.

Any extensions ? Extensions to the internal wiring of the house phone line?
