Clever TBH, Iran is just playing us at our own game. We are always quick to wade in and lecture other countries. But we don't like it when others do it to us :)
The situations are a bit different. The Iranian government are doing a fantastic job of making themselves look like the immature two-bit officials they are.

There are only two solutions to this. Let it naturally fizzle out or get more boots on the ground. I've discussed this before in this thread, tear gas, plastic round and water cannon won't help. Not one person here has said that it will.
People who have experienced the use of these things say that it won't work either.
Stop being so naive and thinking shooting a couple of plastic rounds into a crowd, getting a few people wet and irritating some eyes is going to do anything other than antagonise the crowd.

A lot of the rioters are pussy's as soon as they hear gun sounds or detect tear gas they will run away.

Unfounded speculation. Using tear gas/water cannon will highly likely antagonise the protesters. Yes, it may send a few home but the anger of the others will easily replace them and more. It's a very dangerous gamble and we should think long and hard before using it. You seem to believe it's a quick fix, it isn't. It will likely be the equivalent of pouring petrol onto a fire.

Am I missing something here but isn't that message from ISNA, a university newspaper as opposed to the Iranian gov?
