Maybe Hp are doing this just to give Apple the finger before they leave the hardware market :p

Maybe they are hoping that they will end up with much more HP tablets in peoples homes than iPads :D

OMG FFS, do you not read anything?

FOR THE LAST TIME. HP ARE PULLING WEBOS AND ALL ASSOCIATED TABLET / MOBILE HARDWARE, PERMANENTLY, FOR EVER, THE END.

NO MORE UPDATES, NO MORE FIRMWARES, NO MORE SOFTWARE.

Have a read of what Stephen DeWitt, the head of HP's webOS global business unit has to say:

It doesn't mean -- in any way, shape or form, at all -- that we are abandoning webOS. In fact, we're allowing webOS to fulfill the vision that I think everyone in the industry wants to see, and that is a viable alternative to other tablet or mobile operating systems that are out there that have their own baggage.
