Obese PS3 error/problem?

Bonjour!

My 'fat' PS3 has been playing up for a while and I don't know what's wrong with it?

I switch it on and it powers up but there is no audio or tv signal, it then beeps 3 times and the red light constantly flashes.

If I press the power button again it works perfectly and have no problems?

Does anyone else have this problem?

I got that when I still had a Phat one, it got worse until it wouldn't power up anymore.
Schedule a backup ASAP.

I don't have anything to back up because I just use it as a Blu-Ray player!

So is it on it's way out then do you think?

It might be a HDCP handshaking issue or a HDMI cable issue though which is far less bad than a dying console.

Does it only do it at boot or does it also crash when running?

Out of interest I booted it with the Xbox 360 HDMI cable that I have and it still did the same thing?

And it only does it on the first boot after that it runs fine, no problems! I've also tried formatting the hard drive - full 4 hour job one as well and it still does it?

you can try to hold down the power button until it beeps, that resets the output to 576p and you can then setup the resolution again, maybe that fixes it?
