Yeah, you're going to struggle maxing out BF3 at that res for £1000 mate.

Is there anything at all that you have already that you could use? PSU/HDD/Optical drives etc.

Gfx-wise you would need to spend around £400 (580 3GB/6950CF/560Ti SLI)

x2 MSI GeForce GTX 560Ti OC Twin FrozR II 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card **Supplied with FREE Batman: Arkham City PC game**

Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - OEM

Lepa G-Series 900W '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply

MSI P67A-GD53 Intel P67 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard ** B3 REVISION **

Fractal Design Define XL Full Tower Case - Titanium Grey

Corsair XMS3 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMX8GX3M2A1600C9)

Gelid Tranquillo CPU Cooler (Socket 754/939/940/AM2/AM2+/AM3/LGA775/LGA1155/LGA1156/LGA1366)

Total :

£1,006.61

So if you already have an optical drive and HDD that would fit the bill nicely and overclock those 560Ti's and it should do fine in BF3 even at that resolution. If you don't have those parts, they cost about £80 and I would go for the Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (HD103SJ) personally although it's much of a muchness.

I wouldn't bother with an SSD to be honest, I'd rather have the extra VRAM, PSU power and nice big case (coming from an SSD owner btw).

Clad I found this thread! Was looking for a recommended graphics card that would run BF3 at the same resolution. :D

I take it this would be fine? http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-153-OK&groupid=701&catid=1914&subcat=1812

I cant believe the hardware required to run these new games! I built the following and need to upgrade only 18 months down the line

Intel i7 @4GHz on Gigabyte EX58-UD5 - 2x WD Raptors in R/0 - 6GB DDR3 PC3-12800C8 - ATI Radeon 5700

Mind you if I hadn't just got a new U2711 it would have been less painfull :D

a new caps release will fix that ;)

well at least I hope they fix the issues before I buy bf3, thats if I do buy it as not sure if I will be :)

edit: just had a read, the 11.9 cap 3 was causing the problem and it goes away if you uninstall the cap or for those that don't have the c11.9 cap3 installed withh the 11.10 preview drivers wouldn't have the issue.
