Hey Guys

Currently using 3 of the 6 slots on the M/B for 6Gb (3x2Gb) OCZ RAM.

I am upgrading my gfx card at Xmas and might have some spare cash so was thinking about upgrading the RAM as well.

I use the PC to game (SWTOR, Skyrim, BF3), Photoshop and Java Programming.

Would an upgrade to 12Gb make a difference? I have heard that 8Gb is enough but cant see 12 being too much overkill?

Win7 64-bit
Intel 920 @ 2.66 (may be overclocked)
Soon to be Graphics = 6970/GTX570

I can sell my Current RAM so can get a bit back.

Well, it's 6 or 12 GB for tri-channel so it may be a little overkill vs 8 GB but with the prices of RAM as low as they are right now then why not. I see you are running Photoshop and it can make a difference. You can assign a silly amount of RAM to it and coupled with a 64-bit version, it will fly! As for gaming I very much doubt you will see any noticible benefit. Don't know what PS you have but CS5 (and AFAIK CS4) will also make use of your new graphics card for GPU acceleration. Good luck with the upgrade.

I have got CS5.5 so I can use the 64-bit GFX accelerated version.

I have been looking at the GFX side of things and I am thinking that I would rather go for one of the new cards and save a bit longer for the 12Gb RAM.
