Rent is just one part of the equation - maybe it would be better to include bills and food aswell?

Including food, bills and rent our monthly outoings are around £2200, 50% of our joint take home. We also try and save about 900 a month, but usually whenever we get a decentish amount in the pot we splash it going on holiday :)

Next year my pay is going up but I have a funny feeling there will be a wedding to start saving for :O

my mortgage and household bills comes to 43% of my take home, food can be anywhere from 10-20% because obviously there are months when we have a massive shop and stock up and fill the freezer others where we only need more basic things.

The bills include:
Gas
Electric
Phone
Internet
Sky
Council tax
TV License
Pet insurance
Critical illness/life insurance for both of us

Think thats all.
