Moving OS from HDD to SSD

Does cloning software do it properly? I thought if you did that then you risked not aligning the data into the SSDs pages very nicely, therefore neglecting to get some of the speed you should.

Personally I would look at reinstalling Windows/whatever OS from scratch, but this is something I'm also looking into the best way of doing at the moment.

Anyway here's a good previous thread on it, though it didn't answer all of my questions, it might answer some of yours.

Hi

Have a look at

www.clonezilla.org

That is a good disk cloner and it is free.

Though tbh going from HD to a solid state disk it may be best to do a reinstall.

You could always try it and see if it works, it would leave your original system on the HD intact.

Make sure you back up anything on the SD first and change any other configuration that you might be using it for already.
