maybe ill just play blops rather than buy mw3 then?

Maps are as fun as MW1? no ott kill streak and perks
?

ANd is it worth to buy the DLC maps. I really like Kowloon single player adn saw it was DLC.

Still many players online on ps3?

Blops is still the 2nd most played game on xbox live (after MW3) so I imagine it's similarly popular on PSN. I didn't buy any of the map packs so can't really comment on them, although I played on Kowloon on a friends xbox and that was a pretty cool map. Maybe see how you like the main game before deciding whether to get the extra maps or not.

If the next game is another IW MW clone, I won't be buying. Not that I hate MW3, I like it, I just don't want the next game to be so similar to what came before. If treyarch make the next game and it looks good, I might consider it.

Well I'm sure considering the recent dev cycle Treyarch will indeed make the next game.

I imagine it will be Black Ops 2.

On a more on topic note, it will be interesting to see now that they have concluded the Modern Warfare series, what the next series they start with will be.

That for me will be a true test of the COD franchise and it might well have to be groundbreaking/fresh to stand a chance, likewise it will be the perfect time to rollout a new engine and everything else other people are crying out for.

They've already back pedalled on it being the conclusion of the Modern Warfare series. No doubt a nudge from Activision who if the legend is to be believed wanted another WWII shooter out of Infinity Ward and they responded by developing Modern Warfare.

I'd love to see it move over to id Tech 5, but Activison's only choice there is id Tech 4 when it becomes open source. Listening to John Carmack's Quakecon keynote speech it sounds like they and or he went the wrong way with scripting in that. It pretty much got blown away by Unreal Engine 3 as a propriety engine and for that matter I guess id Tech 3 open source which is what this is.

I looked at the wikipedia page and it says something about Sledgehammer working on a new game. Could be a spin off or something? Guess we'll have to wait and see, but I hope it's Treyarch. I really liked the direction and imporvements they made with Blops.

A new engine would be great. CoD really needs to evolve. I think they should have more varied gameplay in the multiplayer. There's a level of MW3 in a sandstorm - how cool would it be if they made a multiplayer map like that? Or a night map, where you could seitch nitghtvision on? Or one set in a jungle, not like Blops jungle I mean one with no buildngs or roads? Or an underwater research base thing, with windows and glass walls in places so you can see fish swimming by.

The maps they've been coming out with are generally good individually, but if you take them as a whole, they're just too samey. The gameplay is much the same on all of them. Maybe you hide behind an upturned car, instead of a table, but it's nothing more than a cosmetic change.

EDIT: another cool map idea - aircraft carrier. You can fall off the sides into the sea and drown :D

EDIT 2: they should have interactive maps like what Treyarch started doing in Blops. For example on the aircraft carrier you could activate the aircraft deck lift, etc etc. In the underwater base, you could shoot certain bits of glass which would flood sections. The enemy could then activate a pump to unflood them.

Tempted to try BlOps later, got raped on MW3 and uts just not fun since the update as its back to lauch week style. Ie the enemy have the zombie instakill!

Pretty limited interactive but nice touches regardless:

The Underground corridor roof that you could open and close.

The doors on stockpile.

The lifts on hotel.

The zip lines on Kowloon.

Plus you had the rocket taking off on launch and the RC only routes although they seemed to be rarely used, the interactive of the whole maps has always been good until MW3. You cant even get on the classic CoD wheelie bins, let alone a small wall to a flower bed or foliage.

The first and last mentioned there are stock maps Radiation and Launch.

I was too ashamed to use the RCXD I think I only used 5 in MP and those mostly came from Care Packages in the low ranks after prestiging. I didn't like the truly interactive features one bit, but I have to concede the Rocket take off on Launch really added some spice to Domination and maybe Headquarters games.

I can appreciate why doors had cool down timers on them, but I felt they had no place in a fast paced shooter. Trying to use them tactically seemed to be more luck than judgement due to those cool down timers whereas with the rocket launch being fixed you could use your judgement every time.

Lol I was the same. On my comabt record where it showed my deaths to enemy killstreaks, it was very low for all of them except at the top the RCXD dominated with like 800 deaths. I hated the damn things.

The interactive maps feature was kinda gimmicky, but they implemented it well so it didn't get in the way. You could ignore it if you wanted. It sometimes made the game more interesting/different though, which is really what the next CoD game needs to achieve. MW3 brought specialist and support killstreaks, including the juggernaut. Other than that the gameplay is pretty much identical to MW2, except more limited due to the lack of larger/open maps.

Liking the map ideas, they would be great !

Cheers. IW should definitely employ me :)

So long as the only nerf to Type 95 is worse hip fire I wont be too disheartened.. if they ruin it I suppose i'll have to go back to automatics or try the MK14.

If they weren't using the PP90 they would do the same thing just with a different SMG and you'd be complaining about that instead.

The problem isn't the weapons alone it's the maps and the fact that they are designed for SMG's and Assault rifles, since the maps are designed this way all people do is run around with SMG's and Assault rifles. MW3 is just like Black Ops in regards to SMG's and Assault rifles being the best class of weapons in the game, while Shotguns, LMG's and Sniper rifles take a back seat, which is a shame IMO because one of the reasons I dislike about Black Ops is the fact that people all run around with the same weapon and it just makes the game dull. MW2 was great because you could use any weapon on any map and it would work (with the exception of Rust).

LMG's in this game are completely pointless because Assault rifles do everything better now that the LMG's have lost their only advantage with their no damage drop off.

The Striker is useful without the extended mags bug, I'm using it now and I've yet to unlock damage, range or extended mags and I'm getting plenty of kills with it. It's the other shotguns that have now been made useless.

Yeah the strikers usable without it, but it's not actually good. It usually takes 2 shots to kill which means you may as well use a RF SMG.

I guess now the Model 1887 might be worth using, which is the only positive outcome from this. It's such a cool gun, I just hated using it when I knew I could do much better with the striker ext mags. (1887 didn't have ext mags attachments, for those who may not know).

RF M60 can be useful in some circumstances. It's awesome when someone flashes you and you just spray bullets everywhere... and keep on spraying them.

But yeah other than the M60, which is only questionable, LMGs are crap.

The Striker is semi automatic it's not supposed to get consistant 1 hit kills, the Spas-12, KSG and 1887 are the ones that need the 1 hit kill. So what is the Striker doesn't get a 1 hit kill just pull the trigger again, that's the whole point of being semi automatic.
