A bit of a random windows explorer restarting problem here. Basically a OEM laptop win7 install where I have used control panel to remove bloatware.
ran sfc /scannow and from the cbs.log, this is whats wrong:
Code:

now how does one go about actually repairing these? couple of potential spanners in the works-
1) its a win 7 pro installation thats been upgraded from a win 7 home premuim installation
2) I don't have any win 7 home premium recovery media, have win 7 pro discs
3) the laptop does not have a cd drive; but I do have an external.
thanks in adv.

Problem solved by changing permissions on the actual pintlgb.imd file and copying a working copy from another machine.

Windows explorer was still crashing though, so that wasn't the problem. executed more google-fu moves, and looks like I hadn't removed all bloatware- specifically Asus's web storage. removed, and now steady like a rock.
