If you can cook, it's really worthwhile using proper rice. You will save yourself a lot of money in the long run. You can microwave ordinary rice if you are looking for that convenience.

1 Pyrex dish.
1cup of rice (rinsed)
3 cup boiled water

30-35 min on ~300 on the microwave.

Or measure out desired amount of rice and pour into a hot saucepan
Pour in enough cold water to just cover the rice and boil hard until water dissolves
Pour in enough boiling water to just cover the rice, turn the heat down to the lowest it will go and cover tightly (baking parchment or foil help to ensure a tight fit)
Simmer for 15 minutes
Take the lid off, the water should be dissolved/absorbed and the rice cooked perfectly. Fluff up with a fork and serve.

At the beginning I like to pour some rapeseed oil into the pan, then quickly fry a bay leaf, cardamon pods, cloves, fennel seeds and cumin seeds then stir fry the rice for a minute before pouring in the cold water. All adds a lovely flavour to the rice.

Will be trying to cook that curry soon too (and looking forward to the Rogan Josh)
