Hi,
First off i am looking for a gaming laptop as i have had various desktop pc's over the years and want something portable and powerful at the same time.

When it comes to laptops i haven't got a clue and have been doing my own research on internet and i must say i do like the look of Alienware M17x r3.but i have read mixed reviews about these laptops and want to make sure that my hard earned cash gets me something that i won't regret lol.

I play WOW and Skyrim on desktop and looking to play other games which hopefully my Laptop will be able to do this.

My budget is £1600

thanks

Mike

Also check Alienware and specialist offerings from companies using the Clevo chassis (I won't link to them as it will breach forum rules but I'm sure you'll see who I mean via Google), something with a 580M GTX in should really fly.

Alternatively I've also heard good things about the MSI range sold by OCUK.

I have an m18 and love it. The m17 only has one card but sometimes i have to turn crossfire off and games still run very well. If you are looking for an m17 then look on the dell outlet as there are normally some very good deals. I would get a 6970m, 6990m or 580m so it lasts longer before you have to upgrade.

i just got an M17.
very nice with a GTX560M. seems to be happy to fly along. I got it for £880, so quite a bit less then what your budget is.

if you can go for the higher spec cards, although the teardowns on youtube do make it look as though changing bits later will not be a problem.

i did consider a clevo, but i need a backlit keyboard, which was an important element of the spec.

the M18 is i think just too big, but the ability to have SLI/Crossfire is a massive bonus

It is big but i do not move it about often. The m17 looks a lot easyer to upgrade the CPU and GPU. The new amd and nvidia cards will be out soon.
